My Story

My Testimony

My name is Samuela Naquto Varo, and this is how OnlyOneWay began.

Growing up as a Fijian boy the only thing we tend to see around our surrounding is playing Rugby but I want to help and encourage the Fijian’s and other people that there are other opportunities which can be made possible and come to pass and not allow only rugby to believe it is the only thing to achieve to make it in life and to allow it to become our identity rather than in Jesus.

I want to share a verse which made me realize this is a Testimony verse for myself. Proverbs 19:21- People can make all kinds of plans, but only the Lord's plan will happen. (YTHV)

I love that verse because my whole life I depended on my own decisions, I believed in playing sports i.e. Rugby .But there was one problem and that was although I may have wanted to play rugby I still didn’t have any true fulfillment from playing and this made me realize that the world may give us only temporary fulfillment but at that time I didn’t realize that God was who and what I truly needed. And so, we can make all kinds of plans for our lives but what matters is if we want to truly know who we are then we must look to God because He truly knows what is best for our lives.

Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you”. says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (NLTV)

In life we must remember that God truly has the best plans for our lives and they are plans which is good and gives us a future and hope and not the opposite and that is so amazing to know that God really wants the best for us for our lives.

But still rugby was everything to me, I thank God how it was heading and at the age of 13, after a rugby league final I remembered a gentlemen offered for myself and my Father to play for their local team, but my Father declined the offer, at first I was hot headed because I truly wanted to play Rugby for my career but then my parents told me that we was moving to Cyprus and due the fact we was moving that is why I couldn’t pursue it. And well let me tell you guys this was the beginning of something which I was not ready for...

Ecclesiastes 3:1-For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. (NLTV)

I want to say that I personally believe that everything in life happens for a reason and that whatever you face is to either help you, build you, test you or hurt you and when you look back I can promise you that you will be so thankful to God that the season happened in your life.

Romans 8:18- Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. (YTHV)

In life we may have so many trials and tribulations but what really matters is that the pain that you experience now is nothing compared to the joy that God will reveal to us later in our life and that was something I learnt and I to want to encourage you guys that the pain you going through now is nothing compared to the joy which will be revealed to you later on in life.

When we arrived at Cyprus this is where I would see my father begin to change and he would do such things asabusing my mother and do horrible things to her, start drinking more and not really care about his family. And sosocial workers even started to get involved and it was hectic, imagine school and then come home to well... Crazy, but I remembered my Father use to tell me and my sister from his mother which was Kalougata (Remember God). It was an extremely low point in my life dealing with everything at the time and everything was going wrong because I could no longer pursue rugby and my grades were dropping so I left school with low grades not being able to go further in education to help for the path which I needed so that I could go further in rugby.

And so, after the realization of the situation I was in, it made me want to take my personal relationship with God in a much more serious way and wanted to walk the path on which He had for my life.

James 1:2-4 (NLTV)

Dear brothers and sisters, * when troubles of any kind come your way consider it an opportunity for great joy. V3. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. V4. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

I love this verse because even though there was so much going on in my life at that time, I still remembered that the tough times is what shapes and makes us to become that man or woman that God knows what we can become and to remember to be happy through the troubles.

A few years had passed by and as a family we suffered and I really did think it was the most difficult time in my lifeand for myself due to not being able to go further in education and to be able to achieve that career in Rugby  but I was always remembered what I got told from my Bu Kasavu and my Parents about God, and that is that when God brings you to a situation, He will also come through that situation and he will also be there during the tough and rough times until the end of the tough times and God brought all of us through it and I’m so thankful for that advice I received because I wouldn’t have been looking at God if it wasn’t for my grandmother

And that grades doesn’t really define who you are but rather knowing that Jesus is the one which is beautiful to know because the world may say that you need the top qualifications to be able to get to that certain level but in reality God can do much more than and take you places where even Masters and High qualifications may not be able to take you.

@stackyungin- A good relationship with God will get you to places money or degrees can’t

I love this statement because to look back at the previous paragraph about having a good relationship with God will and can take you places where people may say that you need money or a certain degree to achieve but what matters is God can use anyone and I am a prime example of that.

I truly am so grateful to God because if I didn’t face them trials and tribulations and realize as well that God can really use and pick anyone and qualifies the unqualified then I wouldn't be able to have learned and realize that God was the best decision I could have made

But just because it was the best decision doesn't mean that it was an easy road that God lead me through and that is what I want to let you guys reading this to know that following God will be a cost and you have to be willing to accept that and deny your flesh to truly follow God.

Tuesday 4th March 2025

Earlier that day I was watching TV, and it was a video about rugby players being interviewed and they got asked“what do you write on your wrist?” and “who do you play for?” And so, the players replied with Family, Hometown upbringing and their Faith etc. And that day I had just came back from my trip from Fiji and I was about to go for rugby training after a while and so, I went and as I came back on the car with my friend I didn’t truly fill fulfilled anddidn’t have any enjoyment in playing. And so, after that when I came home that evening and was preparing to go to sleep I couldn’t because I was planning that night what to write on my wrist for who I was playing for due to watching the video earlier that day. And then that’s when God dropped the name ONLYONEWAY. Why? Well because I personally believe that Jesus Christ is the Only Way in life.

John 14:6- Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.(YTHV)

And then just like that God had instead used that name to begin a Christian clothing brand. And I am so thankful for rugby because if I didn’t idolize it then I wouldn’t have been able to be in that situation, but I am super grateful to God for how it planned out.

I truly couldn’t be more thankful to God for giving me such a beautiful gift to be able to share about how glorious God is and to use clothing to spread the good news to everyone and help them build a personal and help their relationship with God.

Ephesians 3:20- Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplishinfinitely more than we might ask or think.

I want to end with that verse because when we have God in our life and we allow him to take the lead, He can accomplish even things which we could never believe it was possible, but God knew it was possible and I myself couldn’t have dreamt or think I could be doing this now but it is by the grace of God I’m able be an Entrepreneur.
